Keeneland Day 7 – Unbridled’s Song filly caps leader-board

An Unbridled’s Song filly from G2 winner Tizfiz led the way on Day 7 at the Keeneland September yearling sale.  Catalogued as Lot 2006 on Monday, the filly was purchased by Winchell Thoroughbreds for $280,000.

The Kentucky-bred grey is the first foal from Tiznow mare Tizfiz who captured the G2 San Gorgonio Hcp among six other victories.  She hails from the family of 1997 USA Horse of the Year Favorite Trick who was a one-time shutter to Australia.

A Ghostzapper filly consigned by Taylor Made Sales was next best at $180,000.   She is from the stakes-winning More for Me (More Than Ready).  Her first foal Black Oak (Forestry) won on debut and was then runner-up at Listed level in California last month.

A trio of yearlings by Exchange Rate, Cowboy Cal and Roman Ruler tied for the day’s third-best price of $150,000.

On Monday, 309 yearlings were sold for $13.89 million at an average of $44,963 which was a 13% increase on last year.  The 11-day auction runs through to Friday.
