Keeneland Day 8 – Stonestreet Scores at September Sale

A grey colt by Even the Score brought $260,000 to top Day 8 at the Keeneland September yearling sale on Tuesday.  Consigned by Penn Sales, he was purchased by Stonestreet Stables.

Even The Score was a G2 winner of the 2004 Californian Stakes and Mervyn LeRoy Hcp at Hollywood Park before retiring to Millennium Farm in Kentucky.  He is the sire of this year’s G1 winning three year-old Dullahan (Blue Grass Stakes & Pacific Classic).

Even The Score is a son of Unbridled’s Song who topped Day 7 of the September Sale.  The Day 8 session star is from Runaway Grey (Runaway Groom) who has already produced G3-placed filly Mystic Mama (Scat Daddy).

Stonestreet Stables owner Barbara Banke has been active at the September Sale.  She paid $900,000 for a Smart Strike colt from a full sister to G1 Kentucky Derby winner Monarchos on Day 4.

Darley shuttler Hard Spun sired the top-priced filly on Tuesday when the daughter of the stakes-winning Two Punch Gal (Two Punch) sold for $155,000.

Keeneland reported 302 yearlings were sold on Day 8 for $11.64 million.  The average rose 22% to $38,571 and the median was up 20% to $30,000.

The 11-day auction runs through to Friday and the sale is streamed live at:  www.keeneland.com.
