Keeneland session-leader by Jimmy Creed

Spendthrift Stud shuttler Jimmy Creed (USA) topped the leader-board for fillies at the Keeneland September Sale on Friday with a $385,000 bid from leading agent Steven Young.

Offered by Gainesway Farm, the filly from Yearly Report (General Meeting) was knocked down to Young as agent for successful owner Ramona Bass.  She is a half-sister to Group 1 Spinaway Stakes winner Condo Commando.

“That’s a pleasant surprise,” Gainesway’s Brian Graves said after the filly was led from the sale-ring.  “We didn’t expect that kind of price coming to the sale but when she got here she showed the same every time and she never got tired.

“We were elated with the price.  There were some very good judges on her and we wish Ramona Bass the best of luck with the filly.”

Jimmy Creed was an expensive graduate from the 2010 Keeneland September Sale and he lived up to a $900,000 price-tag with a Group 1 victory in the Malibu Stakes (1400m) at Santa Anita.

Bass and her billionaire husband Lee are well-known wildlife preservation philanthropists from Fort Worth, Texas.  Their latest feature win was a Group 2 at Del Mar last week with Avenge (War Front) who was also purchased by Young from Gainesway at the 2013 Saratoga Sale.

Jimmy Creed (Distorted Humor) shuttles from Spendthrift Farm’s USA headquarters to its Victorian base for an $8,800 (inc gst) fee.
