King’s Best colt tops Day 3 at Arqana Sale

A King’s Best colt topped Day 3 of the Arqana October yearling sale at 55,000 euros on Wednesday.  He was purchased by David Powell of Eurl du Chene on behalf of Magdalen Bryant.

Consigned by Haras du Grandcamp, he is from the Poliglote mare Pierre Bleue and descends from G1 Prix Morny winner Broadway Dancer.  “He walks really well and is a lovely colt,” Powell said.  “He’s just like Venomous who I bought for exactly the same amount here last year.”

Venomous (Red Ramson) finished third in the French 2000 Guineas earlier this year.  He was also runner-up in a roughly run G2 Oak Tree Derby at Santa Anita last Saturday.

The opening session of Part 2 at the October yearling sale saw turnover reach 1.91 million euros.  The average was 18,085 euros and the clearance rate increased two points to 69%.
