Kitten opens account in Canberra

Successful Kentucky stallion Kitten’s Joy was represented his first Australian winner in Canberra on Friday.  The Barb Joseph trained filly Was Meant To Be opened his account in the German Club Maiden Hcp (1200m).

Kentucky based Kitten’s Joy covered 15 mares to southern hemisphere time in 2007.  They were exported to Australia in May 2008 and their foals were offered at the 2010 Australian yearling sales.

The Canberra winner made $20,000 from the Turangga Farm draft at the Gold Coast Magic Millions Summer yearling sale.  The only others to race among the 15 have been NZ placegetter Kitten’s Lair and the Tony Noonan trained filly Classic Kitten who has a 000 record.

Was Meant To Be (3f Kitten’s Joy – Wildly Entertained by Forestry) is from an unraced half-sister to G2 Philadelphia Cotillion Hcp winner Sovereign Kitty (Sovereign Dancer).

Her dam Wildly Entertained (USA) has a 2yo filly named Two Penny Blue (Zizou) and she foaled another colt by the Turangga sire on September 15.

Kitten’s Joy (El Prado) was a G1 winner of the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic and Secretariat Stakes.  His oldest are four year-olds and there are already 129 winners including 14 at stakes level.
