Kitten’s Joy filly tops Day 3 at Keeneland

Keeneland’s January Sale continued its stellar run on Day 3 when a Kitten’s Joy yearling filly sold to Glen Hill Farm for $180,000.

The session topper was consigned by Taylor Made Sales and is out of the stakes-placed Danzig mare Garden Spot.

From Monday through to Wednesday, trade reached $34.37 million which was up 53% from last year.  The average of $45,828 is a 26% improvement on 2011.

Other six figure sales on Wednesday included a Candy Ride colt at $140,000.  The Kentucky-bred youngster is out of Princess Consort (Dixieland Band).

The highest-priced mare of the day came when Three Chimneys Sales presented Honimiere (Fasliyev).  She was knocked down to Dell Ridge for $105,000.  The Irish-bred mare captured the LR Flaming Page Stakes at Woodbine last year.

The four-day auction concludes on Thursday.  Full results and live video of the sale can be viewed at:  www.keeneland.com
