Kiwi flyers by Vinery sires

Vinery sires Mossman and Onemorneomore have unearthed a couple of early-season flyers in New Zealand.

An unnamed Mossman gelding recorded the quickest time during the Inglis Sydney Ready 2 Race trials at Avondale on Thursday.  The track was rated a Heavy 10 after ongoing rainfall and the youngsters were not asked to extend in the very trying conditions.

By Mossman from Zaxcel (Exceed And Excel), he will be offered as Lot 8 by Celia Corcoran Thoroughbreds at the Thursday, October 3 Sale.  He adapted to the conditions at Avondale clocking 11.82s for 200 metres.  A Savabeel – Fleet Action colt (Lot 69) was the only other breeze-up under 12 seconds.

Zaxcel is an unraced half-sister to Rosehill G3 winner Imana and the mating with Mossman produced her first foal.

“New Zealand vendors are supporting the Ready 2 Race Sale with an outstanding bunch of young horses,” Inglis director Jonathan D’Arcy said at Avondale.  “Unfortunately, the saturated track and rainy conditions were extremely disappointing.”

A Onemorneomore colt streaked away to an easy win at the Cambridge trials on Tuesday.  Still awaiting a registered name, the colt was sold by Vinery Stud as a foal at the Magic Millions National Sale for $105,000.

Re-offered at the NZB Premier Yearling Sale at Karaka, he made a tidy profit when changing hands for $250,000.  His dam Spurcent (Flying Spur) won a Gimcrack Stakes and has so far delivered three winners led by G2 placed Spurrendous.

Spurcent’s latest foal with potential also spotlights Onemorneomore and his candidacy for first-season honours in 2013-14.  He had 121 live foals and is one of the favourites for Sportingbet’s first season title for individual winners in Australia.

Niconi heads the market at $3.50 followed by I Am Invincible ($4) and Onemorenomore on the third line ($7).

Onemorenomore was a Group 1 winning 2YO in the 2009 Champagne Stakes (1600m) at Randwick.  He is a son of Vinery’s foundation sire Red Ransom and stands for $13,200 (inc gst).

Mossman (Success Express) was a G1 2YO winner in Brisbane and has sired the 2YO stakes winners Pure Energy, The Travelling Man, Stirling Grove, Segments, Our Sweet Moss, Mosstang and Dinner Date.  He stands for $19,800 (inc gst) at Vinery.
