Dubleo maintained his amazing strike rate when Koonoomoo captured the G3 VRC Herald Sun Stakes (1400m) at Flemington.
The Vinery sire has been represented by 83 winners of 213 races at a 65% strike-rate. His leading earner Dubleanny retired with prizemoney of $543,000 from 9 wins that included two Listed sprints at Flemington.
Koonoomoo (5m Dubleo – Maximova by Rory’s Jester) increased her bank to $339,000 for owner Bruce Pendlebury when she dashed past Cabernet (Al Maher) to score by over a length on Tuesday. Third home was G1 Stradbroke winner Mid Summer Music (Oamaru Force).
“It was a gem of a ride by Hugh (Bowman),” trainer Simon Vercoe said. “I thought she was going well enough to have a go today and she hit the line superbly.”
Koonooomoo was purchased by part-owner Bruce Pendlebury for just $10,000 from the draft of Southern Cross Breeders at the 2009 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale. She is the final foal of Swettenham Stud mare Maximova. Second dam Style And Grace (Luskin Star) is a half-sister to the dam of G1 Hong Kong Mile winner Jeune King Prawn (Danehill).
Dubleo (Southern Halo) stands for an advertised service fee of $5,500 (nc gst) at Vinery.
