Leinan launches late sprint in Glorious Song Stakes

Ready’s Image sired his latest stakes winner when Leinan launched a late sprint to take the LR Glorious Song Stakes at Woodbine on Sunday.

The Josie Carroll trained filly had been the first ever winner for the Lincoln Farm shuttler on debut at Keeneland in April.

Leinan (2f Ready’s Image – Golden Mirage by Green Desert) settled just off the pace in the early stages on Sunday as Group 1 performer Mechaya (City Zip) set fast splits in front.  “I was confident in my filly,” jockey Louis Contreras said.  “Mechaya showed a lot of speed and that allowed Leinan to relax.  When I kicked at the end, she really fired.”

Leinan banked $90,000 for the victory and has now built up a 4: 2-2-0 record for owners James and Alice Sapara.  She had sold for $39,000 as a foal at the 2010 Keeneland November Sale and then increased in value to $80,000 at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky yearling sale.

“I asked Luis to ride her aggressively to the finish,” Carroll explained.  “She gets a little over confident and can slack off a little bit.  When the speed went on she was very comfortable and when he asked her to take off, she took off.”

Ready’s Image (More Than Ready) is covering his fourth southern book at Lincoln Farm which is situated at Blandford in the Upper Hunter Valley.  He shuttles from Walmac Farm in Kentucky for a $5,500 service fee.

Ready’s Image has sired 7 first-crop winners in North America this year.  His initial Australian bred two year-olds are due to debut in the near future.
