The value of buying from the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale was highlighted at Doomben on Saturday when promising juvenile Run for Levi won the Listed Phoenix Stakes (1350m).
Run For Levi (2c Hussonet – Madam Bligh by Nine Carat) sold as a foal at foot when his dam Madam Bligh was offered by Vinery Stud at the 2008 National Broodmare Sale. The mare was purchased by Patinack Farm for $340,000.
Run for Levi ($41) started at big odds despite a recent win at the Sunshine Coast. He showed plenty of fight to win in a three-way photo from Big Chance and Ringa Ringa Rosie.
Madam Bligh was a talented 2YO filly. She won at Canterbury and was runner-up to subsequent G1 winners Danglissa (Canterbury) and Over (Rosehill) in March – April 1999. She is a sister to G1 sprinter Spark Of Life (AJC Galaxy, MVRC Manikato St – twice).
Since being sold, Madam Bligh has produced the South African stakes performer Anaboo (Anabaa) and Sydney winner Ready Miss (More Than Ready). She has a weanling colt by Patinack Farm sire Casino Prince and was served last spring by Arrowfield Stud’s champion sire Redoute’s Choice.
