South African filly Lovetorn joined the Magic Millions black-type brigade in P.E. on Friday when she won the Listed Jockey Club Stakes (2000m) at Arlington.
Lovetorn (5m Giant’s Causeway-Love All by Mt. Livermore) was a $60,000 purchase from Coolmore (as agent) at the 2007 Magic Millions National yearling sale. She is part owned by World Wide Bloodstock’s Andy Williams who the Magic Millions agent in South Africa.
Lovetorn is by reigning USA Champion sire Giant’s Causeway and is a half-sister to Fastnet Rock filly Lovemelickarock who won the G3 Newcastle Spring Stakes.
Their 3YO half-brother Classic Dreams (Johannesburg) has been unplaced in two starts at Kembla and Canterbury this year for former South African trainer David Payne. They also have younger half-sisters by Aussie Rules and Haradasun.
Former Coolmore shuttler Giant’s Causeway has now sired 82 stakes winners worldwide. He is also the sire of South African star Our Giant (G1 Mercury Sprint) who is an older half-brother to Singapore champion Rocket Man (Viscount)
Our Giant was a $480,000 buy at the 2005 Gold Coast Magic Millions for trainer Charles Laird and his major clients Marcus and Ingrid Jooste.
