Danny O’Brien has enduring a disappointing carnival to date and he had every right to question the balloting conditions of the Melbourne Cup when Vigor missed a run after winning the G2 Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington in September.
O’Brien saddles up several winning chances at the Kyneton Cup meeting today with Lord Pyrus looking one of his better bets in the Drink Drive Bloody Idiot Hcp (1400m) – Race 9 at 5.15 AEDT.
Lord Pyrus (4g Pyrus – Eminent Walk by Gaius) finished within two lengths of Rightfully Yours in a Listed race at Caulfield in September and that form-line is good enough for a Rating 78 Hcp this afternoon.
Lord Pyrus is one of six winners from as many to race for NZ 2yo winner Eminent Walk. Second dam Sharp Walk (Sharp Edge) was a Flemington stakes winner and third dam Fairy Walk (Minor Portion) won 1971 Golden Slipper Stakes.
Eminent Walk has already foaled the Kiwi stakes winners Tehama (Centaine) and Darcybee (Fasliyev).
