Lovelace taps into Acclamation popularity

Lovelace is the latest stallion to cash in on the popularity of Acclamation in Europe.  The English and German stakes winner has been retired to Springlodge Stud in Ireland.

Lovelace and Acclamation are both sons of Royal Applause who was an undefeated winner of the G1 Middle Park Stakes in four starts as a two year-old in 1996.  He added the G1 Haydock Sprint Cup at four.

Royal Applause represents Northern Dancer through Try My Best and Waajib.  He is based at the Royal Studs at Sandringham in Norfolk.

Acclamation has given the sireline a tremendous boost in recent years with leading freshman Dark Angel and Swettenham Stud shuttler Equiano.

Lovelace (7h Royal Applause – Loveleaves by Polar Falcon) won debut at Thirsk as an April juvenile in 2006.  His rating lifted the following year with a G3 victory in the Supreme Stakes at Goodwood and he also won at G2 level the 2008 Oettingen Rennen at Baden-Baden.

“Acclamation has done so well so I was looking for another horse by Royal Applause,” Springlodge studmaster Leo Temple said.  “Acclamation’s fee is up to 35,000 euros now and Lovelace is a smashing-looking horse standing 16.3 hands.”

Acclamation is third on the UK/Ireland 2YO sires’ premiership with a fortnight remaining before the end of the year.  Dark Angel is currently sitting in second spot behind Dutch Art for the first-season sires’ title.
