Lowther winner lifts Exceed And Excel

Exceed And Excel’s tremendous year in both hemispheres lifted to another level when Best Terms won the G2 Lowther Stakes at York on Thursday.

Best Terms (2f Exceed And Excel – Sharp Terms by Kris) kept her unbeaten record intact with an all-the-way victory for owner-breeder Robert Barnett.  She had won at Windsor and Newbury before claiming a G2 victory at Royal Ascot in the Queen Mary Stakes.

Trainer Richard Hannon indicated she will be set for the G1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket.  She is a direct descendent of English Oaks winner Time Charter and her dam Sharp Terms is back in foal to Exceed And Excel.

Exceed And Excel’s winning run shows no signs of stopping.  Masamah won the G2 King George Stakes at Glorious Goodwood in July and last Saturday his three-year-old son Excelebration was a runaway winner of the G2 Hungerford Stakes at Newbury.

His Australian colt Helmet was one of the best juveniles racing in Australia last season and aided his sire in achieving a record haul of 23 juvenile winners for the 2010-11 racing season.

Exceed And Excel has had 48 winners in Britain and Ireland so far this year and is in the Top 10 on the leading sires’ list.  He will stand the forthcoming season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $66,000 (inc gst).
