Lucky parallel in Perth

Up-and-coming Perth galloper Luckygray completed a stakes winning double for Glenlogan Park stallions on Saturday.

Woorim (Show A Heart) wrapped up Victoria Derby card with a G3 victory at Flemington.  An hour later, Luckygray (Bradbury’s Luck) was super-impressive winning a G3 of his own in the Asian Beau Stakes at Ascot.

It’s now all systems go for Woorim in next Saturday’s G1 Emirates Stakes (1600m).  And the Perth parallel will continue with Luckygray heading straight into the G1 Railway Stakes (1600m) on November 19.

Luckygray (4g Bradbury’s Luck – Damah Lady by Mukaddamah) was a breathtaking last-to-first winner of the Asian Beau.  “That was fantastic – he really stepped up,” trainer Gino Poletti said.  “To put three lengths on that field was exciting stuff!

“Every time we raise the bar with this horse, he answers the challenge.  He has an almighty future and is still at least 12 months away from fully maturing.

“We will take him home, wrap him up and keep our fingers crossed the next three weeks goes according to plan.”

El Presidente (2007) and Gilded Venom (2008) have completed the Asian Beau – Railway double in recent years.  The Wally Mitchell trained gelding Bold Extreme (1996) is the only other galloper to win both races in the same season.

Riverslea Farm purchased Luckygray for $31,000 as a foal at the 2008 Inglis weanling sale and pin-hooked him for $46,000 at the 2009 Perth Magic Millions.

His dam Damah Lady is a winning half-sister to G2 STC Todman Slipper Trial winner Diego Garcia.  He also won three races as Express Win in Hong Kong.  The mare has a yearling colt by Cromartry Stud sire Natural Destiny.

Bradbury’s Luck has sired 58 winners in his first two crops but his only other black-type winner has been Brisbane filly Ringa Ringa Rosie.

Bradbury’s Luck is a Queensland based son of Redoute’s Choice.  He stands for an $8,800 (inc gst) service fee at Glenlogan Park.
