Milestone for Makybe stallion

Gai Waterhouse trained the first winner for Makybe stallion Purrealist at Rosehill on Saturday.

Pure Hustle passed the milestone in the Furzer Crestani Accounting Hcp (1100m) and the Magic Millions Classic could be on the radar for the precocious youngster.

Pure Hustle (2g Purrealist – Fashion Week by Dehere) wasn’t the best to begin on debut but he kicked up on the rails and kept rolling to an impressive victory over Report (Canny Lad) and Peakhurst Girl (Choisir).

His dam Fashion Week is a winning half-sister to Caulfield G3 winner Cornwall Queen (King Marauding).

Purrealist (Tale of the Cat) was a G3 winner of the Caulfield Guineas Prelude and is currently standing his fourth season at Makybe for a $8,800 (inc gst) service fee.

Waterhouse is a fan of the Makybe stallion.  “Of all the freshman sires, I was most impressed by Purrealist at the Magic Millions,” Waterhouse claimed on the Gold Coast earlier this year.  “I purchased a lovely colt out of Fashion Week for $42,500.”

Pure Hustle collected a $42,000 prizemoney cheque at Rosehill for a high-profile syndicate that includes former rugby league star Luke Ricketson who is engaged to Waterhouse’s daughter Kate.

Ricketson’s former Sydney Roosters team mates Anthony Minichello, Jason Ryles and Ryan Cross are in the colt as well as Test cricketer Doug Bollinger.
