Mafia Princess has secured another rich result for graduates of the Magic Millions QTIS Sale in the $100,000 Magic Millions Rockhamption 2YO Plate.
The Leigh Wanless trained filly led from the outset on Thursday’s feature event and then skipped clear under dashing ride from Scott Galloway. She refused to surrender in the straight to defeat red hot favourite Snipzu in a thrilling photo finish.
Mafia Princess (2f Hidden Dragon – Eureka Blues by Raise A Stanza) was a $10,000 buy for Wanless at the 2011 QTIS Sale. “My wife Lee picked her out at the sales,” Wanless said. “We’ve had a lot of success buying from Magic Millions.
“Mafia Princess looked lean and mean at the sales,” Wanless added. “And you saw that in the race when she looked back at Snipzu, flicked her ear and refused to let her go past.”
Her sire Hidden Dragon (Danehill) is based at Lyndhurst Stud and he has been represented by 75 individual winners. His latest is from a half sister to the stakes performed Picablu. It’s also the family of Perth Cup winner Palatious and her Blue Diamond Stakes winning daughter Danelagh.
The 2012 QTIS Yearling Sale will be held at the Gold Coast on March 18 and 19 and among the yearlings catalogued are 35 by Hidden Dragon.
