Magic Albert colt Masters Flemington

Yarraman Park stallion Magic Albert broke through the 200 winner barrier last month and his black-type figures have also been fuelled by Master Harry and Ilovethiscity.

Master Harry (3c Magic Albert  -Sri Lanka by Sri Pekan) was much too good for older horses in the Listed VRC Bob Hoysted at Flemington on Saturday.  The Peter Moody trained colt was coming off a G2 win on the road in the AJC Royal Sovereign Stakes at Randwick last month.

He was a $100,000 buy from Kanangra Stud at the 2009 Inglis Classic yearling sale.  The Flemington result took his record to three wins in just five starts for earnings of $260,000.

Moody will consider backing up Master Harry against stablemate Black Caviar in the G1 Newmarket Hcp back at Flemington next Saturday.  “He’s a pretty smart colt and likes the straight,” Moody said.  “The other option is the G2 Yallambee Stakes at Morphettville on Monday week.”

Master Harry is a younger brother to former smart Sydney filly Lieserl.  Their dam Sri Lanka has a yearling filly by Tiger Hill and a filly foal by Magic Albert.

Ilovethiscity is ticking over nicely in preparation for the G1 Randwick Guineas at Warwick Farm next Saturday.  Trainer Graham Begg was very bullish about autumn plans for his promising colt after a last-start win in the G2 Hobartville Stakes at Rosehill.

“After the Randwick Guineas, I would like to have a fling at the George Ryder and the Doncaster,” Begg said.  “He would have to be a great lightweight chance in the Doncaster.”

Ilovethiscity (3c Magic Albert – Kensington Rose by Kenfair) is also a graduate of the 2009 Inglis Classic yearling sale.  A $40,000 buy from Fairview Park Stud, he hails from the family of 1993 G1 AJC Oaks winner Mahaya (Sir Tristram).  His record reads three wins from 10 starts for $443,000 in prizemoney.

Magic Albert stands at Yarraman Park for a $13,750 fee.  His 200th individual winner arrived when Bingo Rose scored by four lengths at the Gold Coast on February 12.

His Group 1 count currently stands at two through Albert The Fat (BTC Cup) and Magic Cape (NZ 2000 Guineas).  Don’t bet against that doubling before the end of the autumn carnivals.
