The Group 1 Diamond Stakes at Ellerslie on Saturday week is next on the agenda for Rollout the Carpet.
The Cambridge based filly booked her ticket to Auckland after an easy win in the G2 Matamata Breeders Stakes last Saturday.
Rollout the Carpet (2f Holy Roman Emperor – Out Of Egypt by Red Ransom) went straight to the front before regular jockey Matt Cameron steadied her to settle fourth. Travelling wide on the turn, she quickened to challenge the leader at the furlong before drawing clear to score by almost two lengths.
The Jeff McVean trained filly led home a Karaka trifecta ahead of Liberating (Iffraaj) and race favourite Silk Pins (Pins).
Rollout the Carpet is owned by NZB manager John Cameron and his wife Jackie along with Hong Kong-based Matthew and Elizabeth Oram and William Fan and Tung Moon Fai. She had been passed-in for $37,500 at the 2011 NZB Select yearling sale.
“She’s come a long way in a very short space of time and with each race she has stepped up to the mark,” Cameron said. “It’s a great thrill to have won this time-honoured race that has seen so many quality winners in the past.”
Rollout the Carpet’s dam Out Of Egypt (USA) is a sister to Wandering Star who was a Listed winner of the Atalanta Stakes at Sandown before a successful hit-and-run raid to Canada for the G2 E P Taylor Stakes in October 1996.
