Magic double for Barrine and Swettenham

Barrine Thoroughbreds celebrated a interstate double this week with winners by Swettenham Stud sires.

Smart sprinter Dash For Magic (Dash For Cash) won the Goodwood Handicap in Hobart on Sunday and Pray to Win (Bianconi) broke her maiden at Murray Bridge on Wednesday.

Barrine Thoroughbreds owners Bryan and Maureen Miller sold both winners at the 2009 Adelaide Magic Millions.

Dash For Magic (4g Dash For Cash – Magicina by Magic Ring) will now be set for the LR Newmarket Handicap in Launceston on November 23.

The Goodwood offered ballot-free entry into the $90,000 Newmarket and connections will take up that option.  “We had an open mind going into the Goodwood but he showed us that he’s up to that level,” trainer Vicki Rhind said.  “After the Newmarket, we will give him a fortnight off and then get ready for the summer carnival.”

Dash For Magic has now earned over $90,000 for owner Graham Gathercole.  “He’s a lovely horse to have around the stables,” Rhind added.  “He doesn’t break any records at the track of a morning so I’m always half-guessing whether he’s ready.

“But he’s got terrific gate speed and I’ve always believed he could develop into a top line sprinter.”

Swettenham stallion Dash For Cash got him from unraced mare Magicina.  She is a half-sister to G3 VRC Standish Hcp winner Western Voyage (Bletchingly).

Pray to Win became the 39th individual winner for Bianconi this season when she won the Orange Pumps Maiden Plate (1400m) at Murray Bridge.

The Millers bred her from a winning a half-sister to G2 SAJC Breeders’ Stakes winner Golden Prayer (Amen Brother).

Pray To Win (4m Bianconi – Golden Euclase by Euclase) is trained by Paul Beshara at Morphettville for owners Peter and Erica Dickman.  The also race stablemate Happy Trails who was a Caulfield winner on the G1 Thousand Guineas program.
