A Redoute’s Choice three quarter brother to Patinack Farm’s Group 1 winning sire Casino Prince was the highlight of another strong day’s trade at the Gold Coast Magic Millions on Thursday.
Former Patinack Farm manager Rick Connolly signed for the session topper who made $625,000 from the Baramul Stud consignment. “He could be a little bit better on type than Casino Prince,” Connolly said. “He is an outstanding horse, a lovely mover and what a pedigree.”
Champion stallion Redoute’s Choice topped Day 1 at the Magic Millions when his brother to Stratum made $850,000 and he dominated the Day 2 leader board. His filly from former crack juvenile Mirror Mirror was next best on Thursday when Gai Waterhouse was successful with a $500,000 bid.
“She has a lovely hindquarter and she’s a real Redoute’s Choice,” Waterhouse said. “I bought her on spec but already a number of stable clients are showing interest in buying a share.”
Magic Millions Managing Director Stephen Silk said the sale was continuing in good style. “It’s encouraging to see the clearance rate grow and we’re hoping that continues to improve on Friday and Saturday night. There’s no doubt buyers are getting some exceptional value across all levels of the market.”
Turnover has climbed to almost $35 million from Days 1 & 2. The average price of $127,202 is down $3,977 from the corresponding stage at the 2010 Sale. The current clearance rate is 77%.
