Magic Millions Day 3 – Moody buys Redoute’s Choice millionaire

Melbourne’s top trainer Peter Moody was all smiles when he secured the star lot at Friday’s third session of the Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale.

Moody went to $1.15 million to secure the prized youngster – a Redoute’s Choice colt from Group 1 winner Sunday Joy offered by Strawberry Hill Stud.  He is a half brother to glamour mare More Joyous.

The $1.15 million colt took over as the top priced lot of the sale from the Redoute’s Choice brother to Stratum who Moody also purchased during Wednesday’s first session.

“I’ve been able to buy the two nicest colts of the sale – so I’m very happy,” Moody said.  “I probably spent a fraction more than I wanted for them – but that’s what you have to do to buy the nicest horses.”

Moody said a group of stable clients would take up the ownership of the blue blooded youngster.  “He’s a really lovely colt this bloke – he’s got a top pedigree and I was impressed when I first saw him.”

The Gold Coast Magic Millions had grossed $52.5 million by Friday night.  A total of 420 lots have been sold at an average price of over $125,000.  The clearance rate is over 80%.

“The overall clearance rate is the most pleasing aspect for our vendors and also our buyers,” Magic Millions Managing Director Stephen Silk said.  “It was also great to see the million dollar barrier broken.”

The fourth session of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale will be held from 6pm (Qld time) on Saturday night.
