A.P. Indy mare Magnificent Honour commanded $600,000 during Day 2 of the Keeneland January Sale on Tuesday.
Sold in foal to Giant’s Causeway, she was purchased by British bloodstock agent Tom Goff of Blandford Bloodstock. “It’s probably one of the best families in the America,” Goff said. “I’ve acquired her for an European client but she will remain in Kentucky.”
Magnificent Honour is an unraced daughter of Kentucky Broodmare of the Year Better Than Honour (Deputy Minister). Her dam has also foaled G1 Belmont Stakes winners Rags to Riches and Jazil plus black-type winners Man of Iron and Casino Drive.
“Magnificent Honour’s 2011 Tiznow filly is very nice and her cover to Giant’s Causeway was reasonably early,” Goff added. “She has a standout pedigree—that’s very obvious to anybody.”
Magnificent Honour made $925,000 as a yearling and she later sold for $575,000 at the 2006 Keeneland January Sale.
Shadai Farm added to its shopping list on Day 2 with Cozi Rosie (Pleasantly Perfect) for $525,000. Raced by Jerry and Ann Moss, she was a G2 winner of the Buena Vista Hcp and John C. Mabee Stakes last year.
Shadai Farm’s Katsumi Yoshida topped Day 1 of the Keeneland Sale with a 1.40 million bid for Thunder Gulch mare Topliner.
Day 2 business remained brisk and well ahead of last year’s sale with the average rising 34% to $58,213.
