Yarradale Stud owner Ron Sayers will sell the first yearling by Lonhro since the Darley sire was crowned Australian champion last year.
The Lonhro colt from Girl In A Storm will parade as Lot 6 at the Gold Coast Magic Millions on Wednesday morning.
He is the first of three yearlings Amarina Farm studmaster Craig Anderson is selling on behalf of Yarradale. “He’s a Lonhro – no doubt about that,” Anderson said. “He’s a good style of colt with more bone than your typical Lonhro.”
The colt is from a winning half-sister to brilliant Perth galloper Destino who was a G3 winner in Perth for Dan Morton.
“I’ve been prepping yearlings for Ron for the best part of ten years,” Anderson explained. “His Soldier’s Tale filly has also been popular and she’s a big, strong filly for a first foal.”
Sayers has a significant interest in Soldier’s Tale who beat Takeover Target at Royal Ascot before retiring to Swettenham Stud. His Magic Millions filly is from Broadway Hit (Lot 498) and the dam is a winning sister to last year’s G1 WA Derby winner Dreamaway.
Anderson is also selling a Hard Spun colt (Lot 400) as agent for Yarradale. He is neat type and is a half-brother to Darley homebred Lamasery (Commands) who won stakes races in Sydney and Melbourne during the spring carnivals.
Hard Spun had the 2011 first season sires’ premiership all sewn up in North America until Scat Daddy snatched an eleventh hour victory on New Year’s Eve.
Anderson will also sell a dozen yearling for several other Amarina clients including the first Magic Millions yearling by Kentucky based sire Tapit.
Tapit stands at Gainesway Farm and he finished third on the 2011 North American sires’ premiership behind Giant’s Causeway and Distorted Humor. He is a son of Pulpit (A P Indy) and has already sired 31 stakeswinners from just four crops racing.
Anderson is also keen on his three colts by first-season Vinery sire Myboycharlie and the fillies by Darley shuttlers Bernardini (72) and Shamardal (331)
“The Bernardini filly has really come on since we brought her in,” Anderson said. “She is from the family of Gallant Guru and will develop into a lovely filly.”
