Eliza Park International’s first foal for the 2014 season – a Magnus filly – touched down at 6.30 this morning. She’s the first of many over the next four to five months.
The bleary-eyed ‘maternity ward’ (get used to it!) report that mother and baby are doing just fine and clearly the proud parent – of the two legged kind – will be hoping the new addition adds to the winning ledger of her highly prolific sire.
Indeed, Magnus is likely to finish the season as the stallion with the best strike rate of winners to runners among Australia’s Top 50 sires, while the filly’s mum – Libertas – is by fellow EPI sire Statue of Liberty and is closely related to stakes winning sprinter/miler Exotic Nights.
The General Manager of Operations, David Somers said – some might suggest tongue in cheek – that “it’s the best foal I’ve seen all year” and congratulated breeder Bill Stapleton on what is literally a bouncing baby girl.
Australian Stud Book record shows Libertas returned a PPT on a September 3 cover to Magnus last year. Revamped rules mean the foal will still be a foal on August 1.
