Marea Alta primed for Te Rapa double

Wanganui trainer Alexander Fieldes has his sights set on completing Te Rapa’s feature double with Marea Alta in the G2 Waikato Times Cup (2400m) this Saturday.

Fieldes produced Marea Alta (NZ) for a memorable win in the Taumarunui Cup (2100m) at the track in July.  “She’s at her best now after two runs since a spell,” Fieldes predicted.  “She will be right on her game for Saturday.

“She was doing her best late last time at Wanganui and Noel (Harris) said she could have smoked them if it had been any longer than 2100m.  I’ve always said she will be at her at her best over 2400m.  And the wetter it gets, the better.  She will be chiming into it when the others are struggling.”

Marea Alta (6m Montjeu – Semper Fidelis by Grosvenor) is by a former Coolmore shuttler from a G3 Trentham Stakes winner.  She has a yearling half-sister by Mr. Nancho but her dam wasn’t served last year.
