Masamah Excels at Goodwood

Exceed And Excel’s explosive gelding Masamah was perfectly placed to take advantage of Goodwood’s lightning fast 1000 metre course on Thursday.

Masamah (Exceed And Excel) was quickly out of the stalls in the G2 King George Stakes and never saw another rival on the way to a sizzling victory in 56.67 seconds.

Improving his record to 8 wins in 20 starts, Masamah’s previous best had been a brace of Listed races at York and Chester.  His next stop is likely to be a return to York for the G1 Nunthorpe Stakes.

Bred by Stanley Estate and Mount Coote Stud, Masamah is one of four winners bred from Distant Relative mare Bethesda.  The dam is a half-sister to G1 Middle Park winner Fard.

Masamah is one of 15 stakes winners for Darley shuttler Exceed And Excel in 2011.  Topping the list are G1 winning Australian juvenile Helmet and unbeaten G2 Queen Mary Stakes winner Best Terms.
