Windsor Park shuttler Mastercraftsman took the lead in Europe’s first-season premiership for winners with a juvenile double at Chester and Doncaster on the weekend.
Master Of Finance (2c Mastercraftsman – Cheal Rose, by Dr Devious) scored second time out for trainer Mark Johnston at Chester. He made all the running in the Hemingway Maiden Stakes (1400m).
Mutatis Mutandis (2f Mastercraftsman – Amathia, by Darshaan) also led when racing for the second time in the Pro-Pave Maiden Stakes (1600m) at Doncaster for trainer Ed Walker.
Mastercraftsman has now sired 14 individual first-crop winners including unbeaten stakes winner Pablosky.
Mastercraftsman has a number of progeny entered later this week at the prestigious York Ebor Festival. They include his promising daughter Amazing Maria, a runaway 6 lengths winner last time out at Goodwood and The Grey Gatsby who also impressed when winning on debut at York a month ago.
Mastercraftsman (Danehill Dancer) shuttles from Coolmore Ireland to Windsor Park in NZ. He was a G1 2YO winner of the Phoenix Stakes and National Stakes and returned to claim the G1 Irish 2000 Guineas and G1 St James’s Palace as a 3YO.
Mastercraftsman’s first (NZ) yearlings were popular at the 2013 NZB Premier Sale with a half-sister to G1 Goodwood Hcp winner Velocitea (Volksraad) topping his draft at $220,000.
