McFlirt Blitz at Belmont

Mungrup Stud sire McFlirt maintained his tremendous start to the season with grey galloper McBlitzam at Belmont on Wednesday.  The David Harrison trained gelding scored an all-the-way victory in the Corporate Bruce Hcp (1300m).

McBlitzam (5g McFlirt – All Sobriety by Belele) won his first two starts at Pinjarra and Bunbury earlier this year for trainer David Harrison.  He returned from a 24 week spell to improve his strike-rate at Northam late last month before backing it up at Belmont.

“McBlitzam can keep improving and he’s a Saturday horse now,” Harrison predicted on Wednesday.  “He stormed home at Northam but, with rail at 18 metres today, we had to go forward.

“McFlirt is a great old mate.  I read in the paper this morning that he’s second on the sires’ table.”

Harrison has trained numerous winners by the Mungrup Stud stalwart.  The best of them has been McLurch who won the 2009 Listed Hannan’s Hcp and over $340,000 for Harrison and his wife Jenny.

McFlirt (Kaapstad) has sired 7 winners individual so far this season for $206,000 in prizemoney.  That puts him in second spot behind deceased champion Bletchley Park.

McFlirt leads Trade Fair, Ihtiram, Oratorio (Aus) and Blackfriars among Sunspeed’s active sires.  Mungrup stands him for a $3,300 (inc gst) service fee.
