A colt by Darley shuttler Medaglia d’Oro brought top price of $200,000 at Monday’s opening session of the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall yearlings sale.
The first of three sessions provided massive gains across the board. The average shot up 59% to $21,554 while the median sky-rocketed 140% to $12,000.
Consigned by Denali Stud, the Medaglia d’Oro colt was purchased by agent Debbie Easter. Bred in Kentucky, he is out of the unraced Coronado’s Quest mare Especially Me. The dam is a half-sister to G3 winner Better Now (Thunder Gulch).
Frank Stronach’s Adena Springs went to $120,000 for a Big Brown colt. The youngster is a half-brother to 2005 G3 El Camino Derby winner Uncle Denny (In Excess).
Stronach also snapped up a $110,000 colt from the first crop of champion sprinter Midnight Lute from unraced mare May Day Bluff (Pine Bluff). He was consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales and is a half-brother to G3 winner May Day Rose (Rockport Harbor).
