Mirjulisa Lass emerged as a leading contender for the AJC Oaks with a dominant win in the G1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill on Golden Slipper day.
Mirjulisa Lass (3f Danasinga – Dol by Dolphin Street) came with a well-timed run to race clear at big odds. “Everything had gone along perfectly and I just couldn’t believe the price,” trainer Greg Hickman noted. “It’s been a long time since my last Group 1.”
Mirjulisa Lass failed to reach a low reserve at the 2009 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale. Her sire Danasinga originally stood in New Zealand prior to a spell at Baerami Thoroughbreds in NSW. Now based at Touchstone Farm in Western Australia, he is the sire of fellow Group 1 winners Metal Bender and Portland Singa.
Her dam Dol is a half sister to four time stakes winner Pembleton as well as the dam of South African star Sharks Bay. The mare’s latest weaning, an attractive filly by California Dane, has been catalogued for next month’s Magic Millions National Weanling Sale at the Gold Coast.
And Dol herself, after a spring serve from Danehill’s G1 sire Dane Shadow, will also go under the hammer at June’s National Broodmare Sale.
