Saturday’s Soliloquy Stakes (1400m) at Ellerslie drawn a strong field of fillies in search of points for the NZ Bloodstock’s Filly of the Year Series.
The Soliloquy is the second leg of the Series – Pure Elegance (NZ) earned a maximum six points when she won the opening leg in the G3 Gold Trail Stakes earlier this month.
Pure Elegance (Redoute’s Choice) is not engaged in the Soliloquy. Heading the field is the Roger James trained Misstrum (Stratum) who is raced by Haunui Farm. She is a last-start winner of the LR Great Northern Foal Stakes (1400m).
Cambridge trainers Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman will be represented by (NZ) bred fillies Twilight Granita (Iffraaj) and Decorah (Pins). The former was tough when winning the LR Fordell O’Leary Fillies Stakes (1200m) at Wanganui while Decorah had a less than perfect run when finishing third to her stablemate.
Kisses (NZ) split the Baker – Forsman pair on that occasion and the Iffraaj filly will be a threat again on Saturday.
NZ bred winners Regalia (Duelled), Perfect Start (Perfectly Ready), Elysuum (O’Reilly) and Kelly O’Reilly (O’Reilly) fill out the field along with Best Command (Court Command) and Hollywood Angel (Dehere).
The winner of the LR Macleans Soliloquy Stakes will earn 4 points in NZB’s Filly of the Year Series with second place earning 2 points and third 1 point. The next race in the Series will be the G1 NZ Bloodstock One Thousand Guineas at Riccarton on November 17.
