Skye a Fitton winner at Toowoomba

Skye Bogenhuber can send punters home a winner after the Fitton Insurance Charity Raceday at Toowoomba on Saturday night.

Bogenhuber, 27, has a strong book of rides starting with Lofty’s Mate in Race 2 (Pressday at Eliza Park Hcp).  He is trained at the Sunshine Coast by Wendy Bannerot and, four weeks ago, won over the same track and trip as Saturday night’s assignment.  He should go out at each-way odds in a race of many chances.

The Clandy Man Can is one of Bogenhuber’s favourite gallopers and he will be chiming in at the finish of Race 3 (Fitton Rural Insurance Hcp).  They finished fifth in the Toowoomba Cup in March and could be value second-up from a spell.

Skye’s former master Tony Gollan trains The Clandy Man Can for owner Gary Adrian.  The gelding gave Skye her first city win at Doomben in February 2010.

Bogenhuber will pilot NSW galloper Counter Spy for the first time in Race 4 (Carnival Of Flowers Cup).  He won a similar race on his last visit to Toowoomba in November 2011 and was placed in the Goondiwindi Cup earlier this month.

Counter Spy could be the smoky if reproducing the form that saw him win races at Randwick and Canterbury for Sheikh Mohammed in 2010.

Bogenhuber’s best two chances are in Race 5 (Nova Rocks) and Race 7 (Youthful Prince) and both gallopers are trained by Tony Gollan’s father Darryl.

Nova Rocks will do it tough from an outside draw in the Clive Berghofer Maiden but, with any cover, he can break through in a wide-open event.

Youthful Prince is the night’s Best Bet in the Fitton Horse Insurance Maiden even though he won’t be at any fancy odds.  He was a beaten favourite at Clifford Park on September 8 but should make amends in the lucky last.
