More Energy can double his black-type tally in the space of a fortnight this Saturday after taking 36 starts to win his first stakes race for Serene Lodge owner Les Tinkler.
The veteran stayer caught punters off-guard at $41 in the LR Parramatta Cup (1900m) on February 24 and he will be at liberal odds again for the LR Randwick City Stakes (2000m).
More Energy (7g Fastnet Rock – Perfect Promise by Caesour) was a $150,000 pinhook for DGR Thoroughbred Services (FBAA) from Toolooganvale at the 2012 Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
He returned to the same venue later that year when DGR principal Duncan Ramage sold him to Tinkler snr through the Think Big Stud draft for $240,000 at the Magic Millions HIT Sale.
More Energy’s dam Perfect Promise was a Group 1 winner in South Africa (Kenilworth Cape Fillies Guineas) and Australia (Caulfield C F Orr Stakes) before retiring to stud for Victorian breeder Sean Buckley.
Ramage was instrumental in the LR Cinderella Stakes (1050m) victory of Krone at Morphettville on Saturday. The Darren Weir trained filly is the first stakes winner for Eurozone.
DGR purchased Eurozone (Northern Meteor) as a yearling for $110,000 at the 2012 Gold Coast Magic Millions. He won up to Group 2 level in the 2013 Stan Fox Stakes for owners Dato Tan Chin Nam, Michael Alexeeff and Tunku Ahmad Yahaya before retiring to Newgate Farm.
Ramage also bought Krone’s dam Soft Landing (Al Maher) for $270,000 at the 2008 Gold Coast Magic Millions on behalf of Alexeeff and Bell View Park. She is a half-sister to Group 1 winners Universal Prince and Universal Queen and her yearling filly by Eurozone will be offered at the Adelaide Magic Millions by Krisnat Park as Lot 201.
