More Joyous firms for Group 1 Mile

More Joyous has tightened her grip on the G1 Doncaster Mile after a dazzling win in the G2 Canterbury Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.  And Sydney’s glamour girl completed a stakes winning double for More Than Ready after the Vinery champion sired Elite Falls to win the G2 Reisling Stakes.

More Joyous (4m More Than Ready – Sunday Joy by Sunday Silence) was coming off a G1 victory over Whobegotyou in the G1 Futurity Stakes at Caulfield last month.  She made light work of her rivals to easily beat Love Conquers All (Mossman) and Demerit (Lonhro).

”More Joyous was just like the queen of the turf today and did it so easily,” trainer Gai Waterhouse beamed.  ”She gave them a galloping lesson.”

The More Than Ready mare is a homebred for John Singleton and has won 13 of her 17 starts for more than $1.98 million in prizemoney.  Bookmakers installed her a $2.60 favourite for the G1 Doncaster Mile on April 19.

More Joyous is from G1 Australian Oaks winner Sunday Joy who is a half-sister to G1 winner Tuesday Joy.  Second dam Joie Denise won the G1 Queensland Oaks.
