More Joyous on track for Myer

More Joyous is on track to add a sixth win to her Group 1 roll-call in the VRC Myer Stakes on Derby day after the glamour mare burst back to form in the G2 MRC Tristarc Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.

The daughter of Vinery champion More Than Ready was having only her second start this spring following a first-up third behind star colt Sepoy in the G1 MVRC Manikato Stakes (1200m) on September 30.

Despite Sister Madly setting up what appeared to be a winning break, More Joyous showed an incredible will-to-win.  It was reminiscent of her epic Toorak Handicap win at the same venue 12 months ago.  “She found a way to win,” trainer Gai Waterhouse said.  “That’s what champions can do.”

More Joyous has won 15 times from 21 starts with earnings of close to $2.5 million for owner-breeder John Singleton.

The Tristarc Stakes gave Vinery sires a Group double on Caulfield Cup day following Love Conquers (Mossman) in the Moonga Stakes.
