Vinery’s Kentucky based stud has reduced the stud fees for 8 of its 10 stallions for 2010.
Prominent dual hemisphere sire More Than Ready was among those whose fee has been reduced. The 12-year-old son of Southern Halo will cost US$30,000 a cover after standing last year for $45,000.
More Than Ready’s southern hemisphere fee has been on a upward spiral since 2007 when he covered 163 mares at $44,000. It was bumped up to $110,000 in 2008 and to $148,500 this year.
The increases are commensurate with his outstanding record in recent years with Golden Slipper winners Sebring and Phelan Ready heading his growing list of feature winners.
“His yearlings have sold extremely well even with the downturn in the market,” Vinery’s Australian general manager Peter Orton said. “Australian demand dictated another rise this year.”
Street Hero has had his Vinery Kentucky fee reduced to US$10,000 next year. He is a G2 winning son of Street Cry and is currently serving his first southern mares at Makybe. Street Hero’s Australian fee is $16,500.
