More Than Ready fighting for 2YO title

Gosetgo gave More Than Ready a fighting chance of winning another premiership when she scored a first-up victory in the Betting Auditorium Hcp (1150m) at Randwick on Wednesday.

More Than Ready claimed Australian 2YO titles in 2008 and 2009 but was denied a hat-trick when Stratum sired the winner of the $3.5 million Golden Slipper this year.  The Vinery champion can do the next best thing by snaring his first 2YO sires’ title in the individual winners category in 2010.

Arrowfield sire Redoute’s Choice (14) was two ahead until More Than Ready edged one win closer thanks to Gosetgo.

Gosetgo (2f More Than Ready – Grooves by Marscay) is trained by Alan Denham for leading owner-breeders Geoff and Beryl White.  They combined to win with Agister at Rosehill last Saturday.  He is a very promising colt by in-form Vinery sire Mossman.

Brightexpectations was the star performer among the More Than Ready youngsters in 2009-10.  The Gai Waterhouse trained colt was a G2 winner of the Pago Pago Stakes at Rosehill and he is being set for the G1 Golden Rose next month.

Gosetgo is another More Than Ready with a black-type future.  She faced the starter for the first time on Australia Day at Randwick and was only beaten five lengths by top colt Beneteau.   Second-up, she was runner-up to Decision Time on the Kensington circuit before that colt finished second in the G1 Golden Slipper.

Gosetgo concluded her initial campaign with a desperately unlucky second to Dove Lake at Warwick Farm.  Denham had her fit enough to fire after a 14 week spell yesterday and, in hindsight, she was tremendous value at $3.50.

Her dam Grooves was a two-time winner in Sydney and she is by G1 racehorse and sire Marscay who won a Golden Slipper for the Whites way back in 1982.

Grooves has foaled six winners including Loftily (Shovhog) who won 8 races in Sydney.  She also earned black-type in the Listed STC Triscay Stakes which was named after another champion raced by the White family.

Grooves has a rising 2YO filly named Grating (More Than Ready), a weanling filly by Excites and she was covered by Snippetson last year.
More Than Ready will stand for a $121,000 (inc gst) fee at Vinery in 2010.
