Munnings retires to Coolmore in Kentucky

Coolmore has retired G2 winner Munnings to stand at its Kentucky base at Ashford Stud.

Munnings (Speightstown) was a $1.70 million Fasig-Tipton Calder 2YO Sale buy for Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith.   He was a G2 winner of the 2009 Woody Stephens Stakes and Tom Fool Hcp as a three year-old and his lone success this year came in the G2 Gulfstream Park Sprint Championship.

A striking chestnut, he signs off with 14: 4-2-5 scorecard and over $742,600 in earnings.

Munnings is from the first crop of Gone West’s Breeders’ Cup Sprint winner Speightstown.  His dam La Comete (Holy Bull) is an unraced half-sister to G1 winning filly Icon Project (Empire Maker) and G2 winning sire Lasting Approval (With Approval).

His extended family includes European all-time great Allez France (Sea-Bird), Hall of Fame mare Affectionately (Swaps) and Broodmare of the Year Glowing Tribute (Graustark).
