New Zealand based stallion Nadeem has notched his second feature winner in South Africa via the Mike De Kock trained colt Mujaarib.
Mujaarib (4c Nadeem – Mihnah by Lahib) won the G2 Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile at Turffontein on Saturday. Kock dominated the Group 2 feature with four of the first five runners past the post.
Mujaarib collared Whiteline Fever in a photo-finish at the end of 1600 metres. “He was well handicapped,” De Kock said. “The penalty Whiteline Fever carried for winning the Pinnacle Plate was ultimately the difference between winning and losing.”
De Kock also pointed out Mujaarib was still a maiden in July but is now undefeated in four outings. He was bred in Australia by Shadwell Estates from a mare who won races at York and Goodwood for Sheikh Hamdan.
His dam Mihnah (Ire) has a 2yo filly named Zeyaara (Reaan). She foaled Nadeem in October 2011 but died four days later.
Nadeem (Redoute’s Choice) was a G1 winner of the Blue Diamond Stakes and is now based at Little Avondale Stud in New Zealand. There have been 47 individual winners among his first-crop of four year-olds and they have won 85 races to date.
The De Kock trained filly Tajmeel had won the G2 Clairwood Gold Circle Oaks in June. Little Avondale studmaster Sam Williams stands Nadeem for an $8,000 service fee.
