Willowbend Stud sire Natural Destiny opened his account at Warwick on Saturday. His first winner Natural Mist arrived in the Warwick Hotel QTIS Maiden Plate (1200m).
Natural Mist (3c Natural Destiny – Mountain Mist by Full And By) finished second on debut at Toowoomba in May but then disappointed when tailed off there second-up. Vets reported the horse had an unusual action and connections were advised that a certificate would be required before he raced again.
The Darryl Gollan trained grey galloper was cleared this season and he was untroubled to win by more than three lengths on Saturday. He had failed to reach a $15,000 reserve at the 2011 Magic Millions QTIS yearling sale.
Natural Destiny (Naturalism) won 7 of his first 9 starts in Brisbane and Sydney and retired after a clean-sweep of the 2006-07 Doomben Triple Crown. In the second leg, he won the Listed BTC Doomben Stakes in a blistering 1.17.09s for the 1300m which broke Falvelon’s track record and Takeover Target’s race record!
Natural Destiny stands for a $4,400 service fee at Willowbend Stud alongside Clang and Nothing To Lose. His Warwick winner is a half-brother to minor winners Misswan (Clang) and Barnicolo (Piccolo).
