New colours for class mares at Eagle Farm

Three of the top selling mares at the recent Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale will race in new colours in feature races at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Acquired, Military Rose and Swiss Rose will be out to give their new connections an instant return after they recently changed hands at the Gold Coast.

Local trainer Gillian Heinrich will saddle up both Military Rose and Swiss Rose as those proven stakes winners step out for the first time for new owners.

Military Rose (General Nediym) will race in Gerry Harvey’s familiar blue and white cross sashes after selling for $800,000.  She is set to run in the QTC Cup.

Stablemate Swiss Rose (Thorn Park) is set to run in the Dane Ripper Stakes in the yellow and red silks of Segenhoe Stud.  She was knocked down for $300,000.

One of Swiss Rose’s rivals in the Dane Ripper Stakes will be Acquired who will race in Geoff and Mary Grimish’s black and grey diagonal stripes.

Acquired (O’Reilly) was purchased for the Grimishs by Kitchwin Hills manager Mick Malone for $430,000 on Monday.

In recent years the National Broodmare Sale has produced plenty of subsequent stakes winners like Russeting, Cinque Cento, Suzy Grey and Beyonce’s Star.
