Gundy Son boosted the value of the six Falvelon yearlings catalogued for the Magic Millions National Sale when he won the LR Chief De Beers Handicap (1110m) at Doomben last Saturday.
Gundy Son (5g Falvelon – Dantibes’ Treasure by Dantibes) scored the biggest win of his career when he beat out blueblood Metallurgical at Doomben. It was his 8th win in 28 starts and sent his earnings past $340,000.
Connections are hoping that his good form will continue over the coming weeks. “We’ve got races like the Ramornie and the Eye Liner in line for him,” trainer Robert Heathcote said. “He ran super in the Doomben Dash first-up and he’s come and done the job again.”
Gundy Son was sold twice by Magic Millions. John Wallace bought him at the 2007 Premier (QTIS 600) Yearling Sale and he caught the eye of Maurice Hayes at the 2008 HIT Sale for $50,000.
Gundy Son is the sixth stakes winner for Falvelon who won the Doomben 10,000 twice before retiring to Glenlogan Park. His dam Dantibes’ Treasure is a winning half sister to former top class galloper Treasure the Kwila (LR Bribie Hcp).
The Falvelon yearlings for sale at the Gold Coast include the filly from a sister to Keeper (Lot 1672), the half-sister to G1 SAJC Oaks winner Irish Darling (Lot 1679) and the brother to Fangles (Lot 1719).
The first of three yearling sessions at the Magic Millions National Sale starts on Sunday.
