New Darley winner by Iffraaj

Sheikh Mohammed unveiled the latest winner by Iffraaj at Saint-Cloud on Monday.  The Andre Fabre trained filly Lyrique has a pedigree that suggests she will keep progressing after an impressive debut in the Prix Calandria (1600m).

The Darley homebred was ridden by Maxime Guyon and defeated Sandy’s Charm (Footstepsinthesand) and Glorious Sight (Singspiel) by over length.

Lyrique (3f Iffraaj – Opera Comique by Singspiel) is a half-sister to G1 winner Debussy (Diesis).  He has won five races including the G1 Arlington Million and G2 Prix Eugene Adam.  She is also a half-sister to Lightening Stricks (King’s Best) who was a seven length maiden winner at Dundalk in December.

Their dam Opera Comique is a winning half-sister to King George hero Belmez and the extended family also includes Prix de Diane winner Lypharita.

Iffraaj sired a record breaking 38 individual two-year-old winners in 2010.  He shuttles from Kildangan Stud in Ireland to Haunui Farm in New Zealand and his first Kiwi bred yearlings starred at Karaka last month.

His 10 Premier Sale lots average $208,500 with a high of $540,000 paid by Mark Kavanagh for the half-brother to G1 Rosehill Guineas winner Zabrasive (Lot 256).

Iffraaj (Zafonic) covered a full book at Haunui in 2010 at an advertised fee of $10,000.
