If records were made to be broken, it’s a sure thing Galileo will set a new mark for Group 1 winners for a calendar year in 2011.

The Coolmore giant improved his current year statistics to 9 G1 winners of 17 G1 races on Sunday when Maybe scored a consummate victory in the Moyglare Stud Stakes (1400m) at the Curragh.

Maybe (2f Galileo – Sumora by Danehill) tracked stablemate Soon (Galileo) up to the 400m pole where she seized control and sealed the result in a couple of strides.

“She’s very uncomplicated and quickens up when you want her to go on,” winning jockey Joseph O’Brien said.  “She is a very big filly and is getting heavier all the time, so hopefully she will keep on improving.”

Maybe was a 340,000 euros buy at the Deauville yearling sale in August 2010.  She was bred by Denis and Joan Brosnan at Croom House Stud in County Limerick.

Maybe broke her maiden at Naas in May and followed up with wins in the LR Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot, G3 Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown and G2 Debutante Stakes at the Curragh.

Galileo got her from Newbury Listed winner Sumora.  The dam is a three – quarter sister to G1 German Oaks winner Dancing Rain (Danehill).

Second dam Rain Flower (Indian Ridge) is a three-quarter-sister to Dr Devious and a half-sister to Archway and Shinko King.

Maybe will be set for the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp October 2.  Coolmore completed the same double last year with Galileo filly Misty For Me.

Misty For Me is one of 15 Ballydoyle entries for the G1 Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown this Saturday, September 3.  She also holds an entry for the G1 Matron Stakes on the same card.

Other Galileo nominations by Aidan O’Brien for the Irish Champion Stakes include Roderic O’Connor, Apache, Cape Blanco, Marksmanship and Seville.
