New phase for Desert Prince in Germany

Former Woodlands Stud sire Desert Prince is about to embark on the latest phase of his stud career in Germany.  The 16 year-old stallion will stand his first season at Cologne based Gestüt Röttgen alongside Kallisto (Sternkoenig) and Soldier Hollow (In The Wings).

Desert Prince (Green Desert) was a G1 winner of the 1998 Irish 2000 Guineas, Queen Elizabeth 11 Stakes and Prix du Moulin for the late Edward St George.

He initially stood at the Irish National Stud and shuttled to Australia for six seasons until 2004.  He sired G1 winners Kusi (MRC Blue Diamond Stakes) and Outback Prince (T J Smith Classic) among 294 individual winners out here at a 66% strike-rate.

Outback Prince is his only Australian based sire son.  He stands at Clear Mountain Fairview Stud in Queensland and was represented by his first winner when Hallowed Pearl saluted at Rockhampton in November.
