The maiden winners keep coming for Zeditave. The Newhaven Park legend died in July 2010 but the likes of Albert’s Choice are still arriving around Australia.
Albert’s Choice (3g Zeditave – Apart by Rahy) broke through in the Glenlogan Park Stud Hcp (1350m) at Doomben on Wednesday. It came after a string of placings in NSW and Queensland. “He’s been racing well but got fired up at the Sunshine Coast last time,” trainer Marcus Wilson said. “He just needed to show some killer instinct.”
Albert’s Choice is part of Wilson’s team that arrived at Sunshine Coast earlier this month from Inverell. “I came here to try it out because a lot of our meetings have been washed out,” he explained. “The cushion track is great for working horses and there’s a lot less travelling here than back home.”
Zeditave (The Judge) was bred and raced by Sydney bookmaker Colin Tidy and the powerful chestnut was trained by Angus Armanasco for G1 victories in the William Reid Stakes, Lightning Stakes and Futurity Stakes.
Zeditave retired to stud in 1989 and has sired 479 winners of 1741 races at a 70% strike rate. He has struck at G1 level with Assertive Lad, Assertive Lass, Chlorophyll, Ruffles, Sports, Strategic and Typhoon Zed.
Albert’s Choice is a half-brother to Sydney winner Arms Length (Hussonet). Sky Link is another Hussonet in the immediate family and he was a Listed winner of the Somerset Stakes at Kenilworth.
