Nicconi notches first win at Coffs Harbour

Widden Stud’s explosive sprinter Nicconi sired his first winner when promising filly Hashtag Noidea scored a strong debut victory at Coffs Harbour on Sunday.

Hashtag Noidea (2f Nicconi – Issey by Encosta de Lago) was sent out favourite after winning a recent trial and ran up to that performance when striding clear in the Skinners Motors Toyota Maiden (810m).

Her dam Issey is a half-sister to Group 2 winner Star of Giselle and she foaled another filly by Nicconi last year.  Second dam Princesa was a Listed winner of the Bob Hoysted Hcp and Straight Six at Flemington.

Sportingbet installed Nicconi as a $3.50 favourite for the Australian first-season winners’ title in 2013-14 at the start of the season.

Nicconi (Bianconi) is a half-brother to five time Group 1 winner Niconero and his career was highlighted by Group 1 victories in the AJC The Galaxy and VRC Lightning Stakes .

Nicconi had some good results at Gold Coast Magic Millions with colts from Divine Choice and Ancient Titles making $150,000 and $100,000 respectively.

He will be a prominent player at the upcoming Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney with 17 yearlings catalogued.
