Caulfield trainer Mick Price is light-on for runners at Saturday’s Victoria Derby Day meeting, but is a good chance of securing some victories around the provincials on Sunday with several key chances at both Kilmore and Mornington.
One of those runners is Nine Tales who has his hoof on the till in readiness for the Mornington Peninsula Cup (Race 6 at 3.55pm EDST).
Nine Tales (5g Tale of the Cat-Silk by Barathea) drew an outside gate last time out in the Sale Cup. He got back but flew home late only to be beaten a short half head. He remains at 53.5kg for Sunday’s race and has drawn ideally in gate five.
Retained to race by his breeders, Nine Tales is one of three winners for his dam Silk. He is an older half brother to the stakes placed Silkyanna (Anabaa). Their second – dam Biscay Dancer (Biscay) is a half sister to dual Group 1 winner Marwong (Whiskey Road.)
