No Doubt about Arrowfield stallion

Not a Single Doubt was in vogue with Inglis and Magic Millions on Saturday.  Arrowfield Stud’s second-season sire grabbed an Inglis Bonus with No Hesitation at Rosehill and his Magic Millions graduate Spirited Eagle scored a brilliant victory at Sandown.

Spirited Eagle (2g Not a Single Doubt – Rezidencia by Carnegie) finished full of running alongside the rail to reel in the leaders and race clear in the Jim Conway 2YO Handicap (1200m).  The Adelaide based youngster, who is prepared by Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas, was sent at good odds despite winning two of his past three starts back home at Morphettville.

Winning rider Clare Lindop thinks Spirited Eagle might be a prospect for the spring carnival.  “I’m really happy with him and I’m hoping he might be able to come back to Melbourne as a three-year-old,” Lindop said.  “Hopefully he keeps taking the appropriate steps.

“You can’t hurry him in the first furlong.   He has to do it in his own time.  Luckily we were able to get a nice run on the inside and were able to pick them up in the last furlong.”

Spirited Eagle was an $85,000 buy for Wolf Blass from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the 2009 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  His dam Rezidencia was a Moonee Valley winner and she is a daughter of Kiwi Group winner Society Bay who was also runner-up in the G1 Stradbroke Handicap.

Society Bay is also the dam of Australia – NZ Group winner Society Beau.  Another of her foals – Logical Lady – is the dam of New Zealand G1 and American G 2 winning filly Final Destination.  It is also the family of the Hong Kong Champions Mile winner Sight Winner and AJC St Leger winner Duanette’s Girl.
